The Boil Water Advisory remains in effect. We are continuing to experience a moderate leak, and with storage at the treatment plan still critically low, we want to continue to be precautionary. Crews will be out at night (July 30-Aug 1) to detect or pinpoint the leak, after which we will bring in the leak detection team from Victoria if needed. For this team to be effective we need to have narrowed down the location for the leak.
The August long weekend is coming up. This is typically one of the highest water use weekends of the year. Since the boil water advisory was announced last week residential water consumption has been much lower than normal, which has been immensely helpful in our efforts to avoid running out of water. Your VPID Trustees and Operations Team are very grateful for your cooperation in this regard. Nevertheless:
IF YOU HAVE ANY FLEXIBILITY IN YOUR PLANS PLEASE CONSIDER POSTPONING YOUR VISIT TO MAYNE THIS WEEKEND. IF YOU DO COME, WE URGE EVERYONE TO MINIMIZE WATER USE. BRING BOTTLED WATER FROM THE CITY. TAKE YOUR LAUNDRY BACK TO THE CITY WITH YOU AT THE END OF YOUR VISIT.
We will continue to update everyone when there is news about the leak and the elevated pressure in the filtration system at the treatment plant (see our FAQ). For now we ask for your help in minimizing the stress on our water system.
