We are entering the period of the year when water use tends to be at its highest. Our wells are providing lots of water but when usage is very high, such as on holiday weekends, we are only able to meet demand by drawing upon our storage capacity. This is not ultimately sustainable. In anticipation of this period of stress we are implementing Stage 3 water restrictions, effective immediately.
- No filling hot tubs or wading pools.
- No washing of vehicles or boats.
- Watering gardens using VPID water not allowed.
- Extreme caution in using household water: fewer showers, fewer flushes, fewer clothes washes,
- Rigorous checks of toilets and taps for leaks.
- Pressure washing not allowed at any time, unless done with captured water.
We urge everyone to take these restrictions very seriously. Please be mindful of your water use when you’re on Mayne. If you can bring potable water with you, every little bit helps. If you’re back and forth frequently, consider doing your laundry off-island.
