We have begun to increase our storage at the treatment plant this week, which is very good news. As of Thursday morning our storage was estimated to be 32% of capacity. Over the long weekend we just managed to “break even” between inflow and outflow, but for the last few days our inputs have significantly exceeded outputs. However, in a normal year, 32% storage at this time would be worrisome, so we continue to urge all residents to be extra vigilant in conserving water.
We have contacted Vancouver Island Health Authority (VIHA) seeking their permission to lift the Boil Water Advisory. They may require one additional sample of water to test for bacteria before they approve this, which would be processed early next week (the testing service only accepts samples Monday-Wednesday). We will of course notify everyone as soon as we have more information on the Advisory, but for now it remains in place.
We believe we may have located the remaining leak (1-2 gal/minute) on Mariners, but there’s more work to be done to pinpoint and repair it.
