Dear VPID Residents,
As you know from previous postings and email messages, we are experiencing a serious shortage of stored water at the treatment plant – water that we normally rely upon when use levels are high. In the past couple of days residents living in homes at higher elevations and closer to the treatment plant have reported a loss of water pressure or even not having any water. Because ours is a gravity-fed system, it will be the higher elevation homes that will first and most strongly experience a shortage of water.
We are bringing in truckloads of water to try to offset the shortage, but we wanted to remind those residents who live lower in the district that even though you are less likely to experience lower pressure and interruptions to your water supply, your actions can have a significant impact on your “uphill” neighbours. The less water we consume in all households, the better we will be able to avoid negative consequences for everyone. So please be kind to your neighbours, and use as little water as possible for the next couple of weeks.
Additionally, the trustees ask that you inspect carefully for leaks in your yard and in your home. Pay particular attention to toilets that may be running. Shut them off if they are “extras” and you can do without them, or until you get them repaired. Likewise turn off the valves that feed unused fixtures, appliances, or zones in your house.
