With another August weekend ahead, we’d like to thank everyone for adapting to the rotating daytime water shut-offs and remind you that these will continue until further notice. By now, most households affected by the shut-offs know the routine, and your efforts to conserve are making a real difference.
During the summer, it’s common for many VPID households—whether full-time or part-time—to welcome visitors. Sometimes they’re friends or family, and sometimes they’re guests renting the property. While VPID has no legal authority to regulate short-term rentals, we can all help by making sure that anyone staying in our homes is aware of the water situation and the importance of conservation. This applies to everyone hosting guests, no matter how long they’re here.
It’s a simple step that helps protect your home and supports our whole community—if the water is off and someone uses hot water, the tank could drain. If the tank continues heating while empty, it can cause damage and require costly repairs.
If you happen to meet visitors who might not know about our current water restrictions, a friendly mention and a referral to the VPID website can go a long way. It’s an easy way to help keep everyone in the loop and our community working together.
Daily inputs and outputs of water to VPID have been very similar all week, and with two deliveries of trucked-in water we’ve been able to keep storage above 20%. Next week we have four deliveries scheduled.
