We will continue the rotating daytime water shut-offs through the weekend: Spinnaker, Mariners West and Callaghan on odd numbered days, Dalton, Dinner Bay, Lundy and Leighton on even numbered days.
Our storage is recovering nicely; for the first time since the beginning of August our storage is above 40% of capacity. If we are able to keep building storage over the next few days we may be in a position to stop the daytime shut-offs.
For the past couple of weeks one of our wells (Well 19) was not running, reducing the amount of water we could pump into the plant each day. We were concerned that the water levels in the well had dropped to the point where we were no longer able to pump. However, yesterday we had a team of well experts on Mayne and they determined that the problem was a faulty pump. We have replaced the pump and yesterday the well pumped over 5,000 gallons in 18 hours. This is very good news.
Thanks for your efforts to conserve water. Water use since early August has been substantially lower than has been typical for this time of year, most notably on the weekends. You are making a big difference. And, (touch wood) we don’t appear to have any leaks!
