Our partial district closure last night proved quite informative. When we turned off the water to Dalton, Dinner Bay, Lundy and Leighton, the early morning outflows dropped to zero. This suggests strongly that we have a leak in one of these areas. From observations when we turned the water back on this morning, we suspect the leak is on Dalton Drive.
Tonight (July 18th) we’re planning to continue with the strategy we described in the previous message, but we’re going to turn off water to Dalton again, in addition to Spinnaker and Mariners. This will allow us to confirm that the leak is along Dalton, and not on Dinner Bay Road, Lundy or Leighton. Once this is confirmed we expect to do daytime focused leak detection on Dalton on Saturday.
Despite the water restrictions over the past twenty-four hours, our outflow exceeded inflows by roughly 2,000 gallons. If we find a 4 gal/min leak that’s the equivalent of almost 6,000 gallons per day. Hopefully this will put us in a situation where we can increase storage. However, in the meantime please continue to be vigilant with your water conservation.
